Jingoro Kyoto Residence

This is one of the grandest old houses in in Imajo-juku, serving as a waki-honjin (inn for government officials) while also running a sake brewery business back in the Edo Period. This is one of the oldest traditional machiya townhouses remaining in Fukui Prefecture. Udatsu (a fire-preventive wall built to prevent fires from spreading to adjacent houses) can be found on the roof of the house, and the walls of the house were coated with plaster to prevent fires, which serves as proof of how wealthy this family was, and their efforts at disaster prevention.
